Introduction

Abstract

Atopic dermatitis is the most prevalent chronic inflammatory dermatosis. Despite this, there are many questions to be resolved in its diagnosis, management and treatment. Currently it is assumed that in their pathogenesis, immunological dysregulation -with a predominance of the Th2 pattern- and changes in the cutaneous barrier are involucrated; however, there are still many unknown aspects. Although the typical clinical manifestations are easily identifiable, every day there are more atypical and incomplete pictures that remain under the umbrella of this disease, often neglected for years in primary care.
