Manuscript Acceptance

Manuscript Acceptance Policy

Initial Evaluation and Peer Review All submissions undergo an initial assessment by the Editorial Committee to determine their suitability for the journal. Articles deemed appropriate are typically sent to at least two independent expert reviewers for a rigorous scientific evaluation. The Editorial Committee holds full responsibility for the final decision regarding acceptance or rejection of a manuscript, and this decision is final.

Once the review process is complete, the corresponding author will be notified of the outcome, which may be:

  • Accepted: The manuscript proceeds to the pre-editing stage, during which minor formatting changes may be requested. Once all publication requirements are met, the article is forwarded to the publishing team for final processing.

  • Minor or Major Revisions Required: Reviewers’ comments (if deemed necessary by the Editor) will be shared with the authors for necessary modifications. If the authors submit a revised version, it will undergo further evaluation, typically by the same reviewers, although new reviewers may be assigned if necessary.

  • Rejected: Authors will be notified of the rejection decision. If deemed helpful by the Editor, reviewers’ comments may be included to assist authors in improving their work, even if the manuscript is not accepted.

If revisions are required, authors must submit the revised manuscript within 30 days of notification. Failure to do so may result in rejection.

Authors may withdraw their submission by submitting a formal written request to the journal.

Estimated Timeframe for Review and Publication

The estimated timeframe for manuscript evaluation is between four and eight weeks, as most articles require at least one or two rounds of review before being deemed suitable for publication. Reviewers and authors are each given approximately 30 days per round to complete their respective tasks. These timeframes are approximate and depend on the responsiveness of the authors and reviewers involved.

Once a manuscript is accepted, the editorial process—including language editing, translation, and layout design—typically takes one to two months. All publication schedules adhere to the journal’s quarterly release cycle.

Originality Requirement

All submitted manuscripts must be original and unpublished. Manuscripts that have been previously published, are under review elsewhere, or are in the process of being published in any print or electronic medium will not be accepted. Previously published data may only be reused if new analyses are conducted, applying novel techniques, different perspectives, or in combination with unpublished data.

General Guidelines

Once a manuscript is accepted for publication, the corresponding author will be notified, along with any required editorial modifications.

Authors have a maximum of 30 days from notification to submit the revised version. Failure to comply with this deadline may result in rejection.

All studies involving human subjects must adhere to ethical standards, including compliance with international ethical norms, the Regulations of the General Health Law on Health Research, and the Declaration of Helsinki.

Authors wishing to withdraw their manuscript must submit a formal written request to revista@revistaalergia.mx.

The Editorial Committee reserves the right to impose editorial sanctions on authors who withdraw a manuscript without providing a justified explanation.

Appeals Process

  1. Authors may appeal editorial decisions. All appeals must be submitted in writing to the Editorial Office at editor@revistaalergia.mx, including a detailed justification and point-by-point responses to reviewers' and/or the Editor’s comments.

  2. The Editorial Committee will review all appeals. Decisions on appeals are final and binding.

  3. Manuscripts rejected without peer review: Most manuscripts rejected without review fail to meet the journal’s editorial or section policies. If an appeal is submitted for such a manuscript, authors must provide detailed reasoning and evidence of strict compliance with the journal's editorial policies.

  4. Appeals will not be discussed via phone calls or personal emails.

  5. Acceptance of an appeal does not imply acceptance of the manuscript. Rather, it signifies that the journal will reconsider the submission, either through internal evaluation or a renewed peer-review process.
